Google’s Circle to Search, a new feature, is set to change the way we search on Android phones, making it simpler and more intuitive. This is after also introducing voice search to Google Lens.
Circle to Search aims to create a natural and user-friendly search experience. Users can now search for anything on their Android phones without having to switch across apps. This feature adds to Google’s efforts in leveraging the power of artificial intelligence to make search interactions more fluid and efficient.
According to Google, “Circle to Search is our latest step towards the goal of enabling users to search any way, anywhere. We want to eliminate disruptions and make the search process more integrated into users’ daily activities.”

How Circle to Search Works
The upcoming Circle to Search feature is slated to launch on premium Android smartphones. To activate this feature, users can employ a straightforward gesture, such as circling, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping on the screen.
This intuitive approach is designed to simplify the search process, catering to users who may find it disruptive to switch between apps, especially when deeply engaged in a moment of exploration.
Circle to Search operates by recognising specific gestures made by users on their smartphone screens. Users can draw a circle, highlight a particular area, scribble a keyword, or tap on an item of interest.
The feature then interprets these gestures as search commands, initiating a seamless search without requiring users to navigate away from their current app. This user-friendly functionality aims to enhance accessibility and convenience, offering an alternative to conventional search methods on Android devices.
Launch Date
Circle to Search is slated to launch on January 31, with an initial rollout on the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. The strategic partnership with Samsung’s flagship device showcases Google’s commitment to collaborating with industry leaders to bring innovative features to a broader user base.
A Google spokesperson commented, “We are excited to debut Circle to Search on premium Android smartphones, providing users with a cutting-edge search experience. This aligns with our strategy to continuously improve user interaction with technology.”
