Top 10 Best Games in 2022

There is no shortage of excellent games coming out in 2022, with sequels to many of the most popular series on the way this year. So, whether you are looking for a family-friendly game to enjoy with the kids, an action-packed racing game, or a fantasy-adventure game, there’s something for everyone.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Loads of new Pokémon games have been released over recent years, but this latest instalment is the first of its kind – Pokemon Legends: Arceus is an open-world game.

The game is set before any other Pokémon game. The gameplay involves exploring the Sinnoh region to capture Pokémon in order to complete the first Pokedex in the region. Once you spot a Pokémon, you’ll enter a battle to weaken it so you can then capture it with a Pokeball.

Unfortunately, the game will only be released on Nintendo Switch, but if you’re a real fan of the series, it might be worth getting a Switch so you can play! You’ll love the storyline and graphics of this latest instalment in the Pokémon series.

Horizon Forbidden West

If you enjoyed Horizon Zero Dawn, you are sure to love its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. Available soon on PlayStation 4 and 5, the game is full of beautiful scenery both on dry land and underwater.

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world and challenges players to fend off enemies whilst making new alliances. There are plenty of surprises waiting and mysteries to get to the bottom of in this strange land – this game is sure to keep you engrossed until the end.

Stray

There aren’t many great games for cat lovers, but Stray is set to change that. As you might have guessed, the game involves playing as a stray cat and using your natural abilities to sneak around, blend in, and jump from rooftop to rooftop.

However, the game takes place in no ordinary world. Stray is set in a futuristic, cyberpunk city inhabited by robots. A drone will help you along as you work to get to the bottom of the mysteries surrounding the strange city and ultimately escape from it.

Stray has been in development for years but will soon be available on PS4, PS5, and Steam for PC gamers.

Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals

The original Oxenfree was released back in 2016 and stood out from similar games thanks to the amount of dialogue between characters as you play through the story. Although there isn’t yet much information about the 2022 sequel, we can expect the gameplay to be similar, with a spooky atmosphere to explore.

It will be available on many platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and PS5.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

Although there isn’t an official release date for the follow up to the incredibly popular Breath of the Wild, we can expect it to be available on Switch at some point in 2022. The original game is packed full of things to explore in the stunning landscapes, so we can expect even better things from this follow-up instalment.

Teaser trailers have shown that Breath of the Wild 2 will see Link exploring the skies above Hyrule, although little else is known about what the game will involve.

Gran Turismo 7

Each instalment of the Gran Turismo series has focussed on incredible graphics, and with the latest edition being released on the extremely powerful PS5, viewers are sure to be in for a visual treat.

The game’s trailer shows some ultra-realistic looking cars, and it’s expected that players will be able to customise just about every aspect of their car. It’s not just about the way the car looks on the outside either – even the engine is thought to be customisable in Gran Turismo 7. It’s every petrolhead’s dream!

Splatoon 3

Although the Splatoon series might be classed as third-person shooters, they are extremely kid-friendly and are perfect for the whole family to enjoy together. Rather than using guns to kill the enemy, the ‘Inklings’ use ink guns to splatter colourful ink everywhere in order to claim their turf.

The latest instalment in the series, set for a 2022 release on Nintendo Switch, will allow players to customise their characters’ looks, fight with new moves and weapons, and work their way through a brand new story. Suitable for up to 8 players, it’s perfect for some multiplayer fun with friends and family.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

This game is a spin-off of the highly popular Borderlands series and sees players working through the story mode focusing on the titular character, Tiny Tina. The fantasy game has some stunning scenery and graphics and is full of treasure, dragons, and other monsters to fight off.

The story can be played cooperatively with up to four players, so it’s ideal for those who prefer to play with a friend. The game will be available in March 2022 on many platforms, including Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and PS4/5.

Elden Ring

Elden Ring features narration from George RR Martin, author of Game of Thrones, so fans of the series are sure to love this fantasy game.

Players can explore the open world, where they will encounter characters such as dragons, horses, wolves, and trolls, and there will be plenty of magic along the way, too! It’s ideal for playing alone and with other players, and you are sure to be on the edge of your seat during the battles using magic and swords!

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

The original Kirby game might be celebrating its 30th birthday in 2022, but this series is as popular as ever! In Kirby and the Forgotten Land, players will explore a forgotten land filled with mysteries surrounding those who used to live there.

It’s the first 3D Kirby game, so fans of the series are sure to be eagerly awaiting its launch; the platformer is due to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch in March 2022.
