About Publicize
Publicize is a tech public relations firm that helps growing businesses build their brands and exposure. We started in 2013 with one mission: to give startups and entrepreneurs the high-quality PR and media coverage they were being priced out of. Back then, good PR meant a large retainer, a long contract and very little visibility into what the agency was doing. We built a subscription model that growing companies could afford, with a dashboard that shows clients exactly what we are working on.
Since then we have served more than 450 clients and secured more than 1,600 media placements. Our team covers 15 nationalities and works across the Americas and Europe, in English and Spanish. Our clients range from SaaS, fintech, cybersecurity, healthtech and ecommerce to AI, crypto, robotics, space, and cleantech.
What makes us different is our Connect events. Most pitch competitions put founders in front of investors. Ours puts them in front of journalists. Startups get two minutes to pitch, then reporters and editors tell them directly what works, what does not and what would make the story worth covering. Past judges have come from Reuters, Forbes, TechCrunch, Fast Company, Newsweek and Sifted. Connect started as live events in Mexico City, Bogota, Medellin and Miami, moved online in 2020 and came to London in 2024. We have run editions for sustainability, healthtech, cybersecurity, AI, fintech, impact and construction startups. It is free to attend and open to any startup, not only our clients.
We bring journalists inside the firm too. Every two weeks a reporter or editor joins our company call to talk about their work, how their newsroom runs and what they need from PR people. On the day we submit this entry, our guest is Sissi Cao, Business Editor at Observer.
That is the impact we are most proud of. PR usually happens behind closed doors, with an agency sitting between the founder and the reporter. We open that door in both directions. Founders learn how journalists think, journalists meet companies they would never have found in their inbox, and our own team keeps learning from the people we pitch.
Our biggest challenge is the changing media landscape. Newsrooms are shrinking, journalists are busier than ever and their inboxes are filling with automated pitches, so every story is harder to land. AI adds a second challenge. We use it to research faster and prepare better, but journalists do not want AI written pitches or articles, and they can tell. So the angle, the judgment and the writing stay human. Using AI productively while keeping the quality reporters expect is a balance the whole industry is still finding.
