Founded in 2012 by husband-and-wife duo, Jason and Sarah Dowzell, Natural HR provides all-in-one HR and payroll software for mid-sized and enterprise organisations that enables professionals at the frontline of the rapidly evolving modern workplace to engage, manage and pay their people.

Natural HR delivers everything a HR department needs to support and manage their people, freeing up valuable time to focus on their organisation’s strategic HR objectives.

After Natural HR’s early success, the duo’s plan to make it a revenue-driven business began in earnest in December 2013. Jason and Sarah invested over £80,000 of their savings to get the business off the ground and to fund the development, hosting and ongoing support of the cloud-based HR tool. After a further two years of hard work and perseverance, they secured £100,000 of investment in the business from Midlands-based VC firm, Midven.

Since then, the team’s continued product innovation and development has led to subsequent investment in Natural HR from venture capital firms. The most recent investment round of £250,000 meant the company could create 10 new jobs in the city and develop their fully integrated payroll function from the ground up.

Natural HR is one of the first providers of cloud-based HR software in the UK to offer a fully-integrated HR and payroll solution to its customers. Where most other platforms offer payroll as a third party ‘add-on’ or not at all, Natural HR’s is fully integrated into one single, easy-to-use system. This means that salaries can be paid on time and without errors from within the Natural HR platform without the need to pass sensitive data between HR and payroll departments

Having entered a well-established market with many industry heavyweights dominating the sector, Natural HR arrived as the ‘new kid on the block’ and were met with early success. What started as a hobby for Sarah and Jason soon turned into a leading HR platform being used by over 13,000 users globally with a team of 29 and offices in Birmingham’s vibrant Jewellery Quarter. Their continued tenacity and drive to make Natural HR successful has led to subsequent rounds of investment in the business totalling in excess of £900,000.

The HR software market is historically stagnant and full of faceless corporate software giants with little consideration or support for their customers. As a business, Natural HR’s goal has always been to shake up the market with a fresh new perspective, personal service and sense of community. Natural HR proudly get to know their customers by name and aim to become an integral part of their HR function, not just their supplier.
