About Origin
Origin is the Enterprise Benefits Intelligence platform that helps organisations to manage their second-largest people cost – employee benefits. The platform is a purpose-built, AI-native solution that provides HR and benefits teams with the visibility, intelligence and governance they need to identify inefficiencies, streamline benefits operations and make strategic decisions.
For the first time, Origin provides a single source of truth for every benefit, cost, vendor and country, with AI-powered insights and automated workflows for renewals, compliance and vendor management. It does not simply summarise documents; it sits at the centre of the global benefits operating cycle, connecting inventory, spend, risk and performance data to surface actionable insights.
Origin was co-founded by industry veterans, Chris Bruce and Peter Craghill, who previously created Darwin (formerly Thomson Online Benefits) – the global benefits administration provider acquired by Mercer in 2016.
Origin has also been co-created in partnership with some of the world’s largest and most complex employers, including Pfizer, Comcast and BP; organisations that manage benefits across dozens of countries, thousands of vendors and rapidly evolving compliance requirements. This collaborative design and build has ensured that Origin addresses the specific issues and frustrations that global benefits leaders experience at work every day.
At the heart of Origin is Cuido™ – the world’s first Artificial Benefits Intelligence, engineered to tackle the challenges that global benefits management presents. Cuido ingests, translates and organises decentralised data such as policies, contracts, commissions, vendor information and more, into a single, authoritative source. Origin’s ‘Ask Cuido’ functionality then draws on this definitive source of truth to answer benefit team queries in real-time.
Cuido works by combining large language model reasoning with domain-specific algorithms and multi-layer validation. It cites its sources to ensure outputs are auditable and transparent; uses human-in-the-loop verification to maintain accuracy; and applies domain-specific guardrails tuned to benefit types, languages and regulatory frameworks.
Unlike general-purpose AI, Cuido runs a purpose-built ingestion pipeline that extracts, translates, validates and structures complex benefits documents into structured, queryable data. That pipeline spans multiple complex ingestion steps, including document translation, classification, validation and structuring, each with extraction rules tailored to specific benefit types and markets. Cuido also gets measurably better with every new client, country and benefit type it processes, without ever training on or sharing client data.
Origin came out of stealth in April 2025 with a $21M Series A investment, led by Felix Capital. In March this year, the company announced a further $30M Series A+ led by Notion Capital, taking total funding to +$50M within twelve months.
Chris Bruce, Co-founder and CEO, Origin: The biggest barrier in global benefits has always been the lack of a single source of truth based on verified data, that is totally owned by the benefits teams. It’s a problem we’ve been trying to solve for fifteen years and it simply wasn’t possible without AI. That is the unlock that has enabled us to create Origin and provide multinational organisations with visibility, intelligence and governance over their total benefit spend for the first time.
