Rezon is a North East based innovative sports firm established in 2021 to address brain injury caused by concussion and repeated sub-concussive impacts in contact and collision sports.
When founder Judith McMinn first established Rezon, it was because she had identified something missing from sports. While traditional protective headwear focused on the head and skull, there was nothing effectively protecting the brain.
With more and more cases of neurodegenerative disease in sports coming to light, Judith worked alongside leading global experts to develop brain protection. Rezon’s mission is to offer every athlete the option to protect their brain and performance. So that current and future athletes no longer have to face the potential outcome of neurodegenerative diseases like CTE, an early onset dementia.
Rezon designs and manufactures its patented protective wearable in the UK, with manufacturing based in Sheffield. Its flagship product, Halos, is a ground-breaking sports headband and the only legally approved CE Category II marked protective headband in the UK and Europe. Halos is specifically engineered to reduce rotational forces to the brain by up to 61 percent, significantly lowering the long-term risk of brain injury and concussion risk by 74%.
Halos is worn in 19 sports and sold to customers in 33 countries. Rezon is also developing Halos Edge, which provides unprecedented brain protection, brain injury detection, and new and unique insights around player performance – with clinical grade measures of distraction, engagement, focus, fatigue, and team synchrony tracked and detected directly from the brain. This is sports first brain wearable and is used in the US with professional athletes in baseball, soccer and golf.
