Every October marks Menopause Awareness Month, a time to talk about a phase that 50% of the world’s population will go through, but one that is still relatively under-researched.
Menopause refers to the point in a person’s life when their periods stop. This usually marks the end of a woman’s fertile period as the body produces less oestrogen and progesterone.
This change in hormones can bring on some pretty unpleasant symptoms, including hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, weight gain and more.
But whilst menopause is experienced by half the world’s population, it is still a largely under-researched phenomenon. Luckily, in order to help women deal with this period of their lives, a number of tech and startup companies have emerged.
How Long Does Menopause Last?
According to the Cleveland Clinic, the average length of menopause is around 7 years. The process is normally divided into five stages, which come with a variety of hormone changes and symptoms.
For many women, these 7 years are spent battling symptoms and restoring balance to their bodies.
