Matt Critchley & Elena Cismigiu – HX Lab
HX Lab is a neurotechnology company founded by psychologist Matt Critchley and neuroscientist Elena Cismigiu currently bringing out a novel cognitive analysis system for the commercial world. They started HX in 2019 as university students while performing neuropsychological studies using competitor technology in marketing situations, but through the limitations they observed, they have decided to invent a more efficient and user-friendly technology. They pivoted during the pandemic due to testing restrictions and are now undergoing funding and 2 technological patents for their innovation.
During their studies at Keele University, they found big opportunities of neural scanning in the commercial world and performed testing in various sectors, from technological development to marketing but the configuration of the technology at the time proved to have too many limitations for the commercial world. While finishing their studies and graduating from neuroscience and psychology, Elena and Matt developed a minimum viable software and developed the scientific basis of their technology.
In 2020 they partnered with Cambridge Future Tech, a venture builder company specialising in commercialisation of scientific technologies. Together they are developing their own non-contact headset and analytics software platform that bridges the challenges seen before and setting up a commercialisation plan for 2023.
They have also been awarded various grants from Keele University and an Innovate grant which has allowed them to patent their technology, as well as currently raising pre-seed funding, with the aim of further raising seed in the next 6 months and are currently working closely with Cambridge Judge Business School as inventors in the Enterprise Tech programme.
