Whilst many companies have said that their employees can no longer work remotely, others have allowed their workers to continue working from home.

According to the ONS, between May and June 2024, 14% of respondents only worked from home and 26% worked both at home and in the office. Whilst it’s clear that COVID created a real shift in how and where we work, it looks like hybrid work is here to stay.

Because of this, it’s no surprise that so many people have been looking for ways to level up their home office. Here, we take a look at some gadgets that we think make a great addition to any home-based working space.

Smart Desks

Sitting down all day can not only be bad for you physically, but mentally too. According to Healthline, in one 7-week study, participants using standing desks reported less stress and fatigue than those who remained seated the entire work day.

In addition to this, 87% of those using standing desks reported increased energy throughout the day. Investing in a smart standing desk allows you to switch from sitting to standing with the click of a button. This not only makes working from home more comfortable, but is better for you too.

Especially in the winter months, rooms can get dark early. Running your lights all day could mean a hike in energy bills, which we certainly want to avoid.

Investing in a desk lamp not only means you use less electricity, but can also focus the light onto one space. This is better for your eye health, especially when looking at a screen.

If you wanted to invest in something even better, try a SAD lamp. These not only provide light, but UV too, helping to combat seasonal affective disorder, which comes from decreased daylight.
