About Nebius
A pioneering technology company launched in November 2023, Nebius has quickly established itself as a leading AI-cloud centric provider of full-stack AI infrastructure, addressing the rapid expansion and evolving needs of the global AI industry. Headquartered in Amsterdam, Nebius operates globally, with R&D hubs in Europe, North America, and Israel, and its innovative infrastructure is designed to support the entire machine learning lifecycle.
Building Nebius has not been without challenges. The company is built around the talents of about 400 highly skilled engineers. It has developed proprietary cloud software architecture and hardware, including servers, racks, and data centre designs, enabling it to deliver a seamless AI-native cloud experience. Entering a competitive market, Nebius has grown its customer base to include over 40 managed clients, including the likes of Mistral and JetBrains. A significant milestone has been Nebius’ bold $1 billion investment plan in AI infrastructure across Europe, which includes the expansion of its data centre in Finland, and the opening of a new GPU cluster in Paris. In November 2024, Nebius also announced its first GPU cluster in the United States with a deployment in Kansas City.
Nebius is already having an impact on the AI sector. It launched the first cloud platform built specifically for the AI age, built on the NVIDIA accelerated computing framework and supporting highly intensive AI and ML workloads. As a preferred partner in the NVIDIA Partner Network, Nebius has secured a pioneering role in Europe by offering NVIDIA H200 Tensor Core GPUs and is also a launch partner for the upcoming NVIDIA Blackwell platform. Its Finnish data centre is home to ISEG, one of the most powerful commercially available supercomputers in Europe and worldwide. That data centre also boasts strong sustainability credentials, with industry-leading energy efficiency and a waste heat recovery system that provides heating to 2,000 nearby homes.
Nebius’ rapid growth reflects its leadership in the sector. Cloud revenue has surged nearly eightfold year-over-year, with an annualised run rate exceeding $120 million as of September 2024. To meet the evolving demands of GenAI builders, it introduced Nebius AI Studio, a high-performance, cost-efficient self-service inference platform for foundation model users and GenAI application builders, offering an extensive library of open-source models such as Llama, Mistral, Qwen, among others. In addition to launching its specialised cloud platform for AI, Nebius expanded its service offerings with solutions like Soperator and Managed PostgreSQL for IK8S. These innovations underline Nebius’ commitment to addressing customer needs with flexibility, reliability, and cost-effective technology.
In little more than a year, Nebius has transformed from a start-up into a leader in the AI infrastructure landscape, driving innovation and setting new standards for AI-centric cloud computing. Its rapid growth, technological advancements, and commitment to sustainability position it to become a force in the industry, shaping the future of AI infrastructure.
