EGA Tech: Powering Digital Transformation with African talent and AI-driven learning

EGA Tech is an automation startup operating two distinct brands: Gridiron, which provides African DevOps talent, automation software development and systems integrations; and ARX, an AI-driven Learning Experience Generator to create learning content fast and securely.

Founded by Victor Omos in January 2023, EGA Tech was borne of frustration with the slow pace of Digital Transformation projects he worked on – partly because of a shortage of talent in the industry. At the same time, the African continent with its high proportion of young, well-educated people went largely untapped.

EGA Tech sources and manages the day-to-day performance of African tech talent working for some of the UK’s largest organisations under the Gridiron brand. EGA also takes care of all of their onboarding and ongoing training – an approach that is unique in the industry. It creates impactful career opportunities and puts good money in the pockets of African tech talent, benefiting the developers, as well as their families and communities. In turn, large organisations are able to accelerate the delivery of their automation projects, improving their operational efficiencies, and saving time and money.

To upskill its engineers faster, EGA developed an AI-driven learning and development platform. It dramatically improved the speed with which the company was able to deliver training courses, and ensured consistency for new joiners. It has also transformed the skillsets of over 40,000 public users.

The platform has since been spun out as a standalone product: ARX, the world’s first air-gapped Learning Experience Generator (LXG) that enables organisations to automate the creation of next-gen learning content.

ARX supports both Internet-facing and air-gapped solutions for security-conscious organisations, gaining traction with military institutions, financial organisations, suppliers to the government and others. Instead of organisations taking at least seven working days to produce 20 minutes of online content, ARX transforms L&D creation: generating multimedia content in hours, text content in minutes, with user input mere seconds.

One of the main challenges for EGA DevOps engineers was the possibility of unexpected downtime due to unreliable electricity networks in their respective regions. EGA now runs a scheme that sponsors the installation of solar panels on the roofs of its engineers if needed, which benefits the engineers and their households.

EGA Tech has been bootstrapped since its creation and achieved over £1M in annual revenue, demonstrating scalable impact and social responsibility.
