About Hydrolix
Hydrolix co-founders Hasan Alayi and Marty Kagan started Hydrolix in 2018 after experiencing firsthand the pain that comes with exorbitant costs associated with observability.
Prior to starting Hydrolix, Marty worked at Akamai and Cisco, and then co-founded Cedexis in 2008. The company became a pioneer in observability for Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), monitoring the quality of experience delivered by CDNs to their customers. In 2012, Hasan left Cisco to join the engineering team at Cedexis. As Cedexis grew its customer base, Hasan and Marty became acutely aware of the high cost of data storage: storing the logs essential to their business would be one of our biggest expenses, second only to payroll. This disturbing cost burden weighed heavily on their minds, even after they each moved on to our next adventures—Hasan moved on to Splunk. Marty joined Fastly, and, ultimately, Citrix bought Cedexis in early 2018.
Even while at Splunk, the challenge of controlling the costs of data remained. Hasan knew the problem could be solved, and he decided to set out on his own to create what would become the first streaming data lake in the world. His first call was to Marty. They reunited over a shared ambition to solve this seemingly pervasive and rapidly growing problem and disrupt the economics of log data. They then created the Hydrolix in 2018.
Since then, Hydrolix has seen rapid growth, closing an $80 M Series C funding round in April 2025 and expanding to over 600 customers and 200 employees worldwide. Hydrolix is the go-to observability provider for major live streaming events, including the Super Bowl, Olympics, FIFA Club World Cup, and the largest global cricket matches.
