About Wealthbrite

Wealthbrite was founded to solve one of the workplace’s biggest challenges: financial illiteracy. Launched in 2021, the financial edtech specialises in teaching early careers talent essential financial skills, improving wellbeing, inclusion, and business productivity.

As a first-generation professional on track to becoming a partner at EY, Carla Hoppe realised that poor financial know-how wasn’t just an issue for those from diverse backgrounds. Even her high-earning peers struggled with basic money management skills, negatively impacting their mental health and performance. Determined to break the UK’s taboo around financial literacy, Carla founded Wealthbrite to start an open conversation about money in the workplace so everyone, regardless of background, can build financial knowledge and skills.

Wealthbrite champions diversity, equity, inclusion and social mobility in the UK, by levelling the playing field for early careers talent. While many companies have social mobility initiatives as part of their talent attraction efforts, a lack of financial education disproportionately affects people with diverse lived experiences, undermining broader inclusion efforts.

The startup’s Wealthbuilder Programme supports early careers talent as they transition out of full-time education and into the workforce. This group is incredibly diverse and a programme that meets their needs must reflect the intersectionality of their lived experiences and attitudes toward money.

By working with companies to complement their social mobility programmes, Wealthbrite has supported thousands of employees across sectors like law, tech and banking in improving their financial confidence and resilience. The programmes use a multimedia framework to engage learners and emphasise storytelling and relatable, everyday experiences to bring the world of money and finances to life.

Wealthbrite’s commitment to inclusion extends to its own operations. When the startup successfully closed its SEIS funding round for £200,000 earlier this year, 70% of its investors were from underrepresented communities, including women, ethnic minorities, and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. As a minority founder, Carla intentionally created a cap table that reflects the diverse community Wealthbrite serves.

Recently, the team launched the Rainmaker Programme, co-designed with businesses to solve real-world skills shortages and equip early careers talent with commercial awareness. Plans for global expansion are already underway, with discussions taking place with businesses in Asia and ambitions to enter the North American market.
