LionbridgePR was born out of McCarthy Communications Management Ltd in January 2021. Having worked primarily with the aviation industry and in crisis response prior to the pandemic, the founders saw an opportunity to pivot and get back to what they started doing – impactful storytelling PR.
Ben McCarthy spent 15 years as a news correspondent with the BBC, Sky News and ITN followed by 4 years at global communications agency Porter Novelli. Sophie McCarthy spent 15 years in network agencies OgilvyPR, & Hill & Knowlton. They blend this “grey hair” with young talent who keep the services of the agency right up to date with the latest technology, techniques and methodologies. The founders’ unique blend of expertise has proved a winning combination since their relaunch in January with a raft of tech and start-ups adding their names to their roster.
Notable wins for the agency since January are the brand-new fibre network provider Upp who have secured £1bn of investment, Vermarais a start-up joint venture between global heavyweights Evonik and DSM, which produces a brand new natural marine algal-oil to replace fish oil and a financial services tech consultancy Zenith Actuarial.
