About Florina Minzat

EcothermiQ is a solar driven, AI enabled climate system that delivers heating, cooling and fresh air in one integrated unit, without relying on fossil fuels or a stable grid. Founded in June 2024, the company is redefining how buildings achieve thermal comfort, with the goal of helping avoid more than 10 million tons of CO2 emissions while making climate resilient infrastructure accessible and scalable.

My path into this work did not begin in a lab. It began in a home that was often too cold in winter and too hot in summer. Growing up in Romania, I experienced energy insecurity first hand. Years later, during my MSc in Smart Buildings and Digital Engineering at UCL, I studied fuel poverty and realised this was a global systems problem affecting millions. That realisation became the foundation for EcothermiQ.

I created the company to build a fundamentally better approach to climate control. Last year I secured a 60k euro grant, designed and built a working prototype, and successfully lab tested the system with a leading European research institute, reaching technology readiness level 4. This validated a new architecture for climate systems that combines passive thermal storage, intelligent optimisation and renewable energy.

As a solo female founder building deep tech climate hardware, I have faced structural barriers including limited access to capital, technical gatekeeping and working without salary. Instead of slowing progress, these constraints sharpened my focus. I built international technical collaborations, secured supplier partnerships and positioned EcothermiQ for pilot deployment with next generation housing partners.

EcothermiQ sits at the intersection of hardware, thermal physics and machine learning. This convergence allows climate systems to become adaptive, predictive and dramatically more efficient. My work contributes to a broader shift in the industry from energy intensive, grid dependent systems toward autonomous, intelligent and resilient infrastructure.

EcothermiQ is now entering the investment and pilot phase, moving from validated prototype to real world deployment. The company represents a new class of climate technology, not as an incremental improvement, but as a foundational redesign of how buildings interact with energy, climate and human comfort.
