About Elena Ikonomovska
Elena Ikonomovska, PhD, is a serial founder and AI scientist with nearly two decades of experience building large scale machine learning systems that power global platforms. She holds both a Masters and PhD in machine learning and began her career pushing the boundaries of data infrastructure and applied AI.
During her PhD, she worked at Google, where she prototyped core technology that later became foundational to BigQuery. She then joined Reddit as the company first data scientist, where she built large scale content recommendation systems trained on 300 million users and developed real time safety tools to detect harmful behavior. At a pivotal stage of growth, her work helped transform Reddit into a more intelligent and safer platform powered by machine learning.
Elena went on to co-found Nuntio Labs, an AI writing company that secured $800K in pre-product commitments from customers, including Wells Fargo and Square. She later led AI at Change.org, where she built and scaled the machine learning and AI department to amplify diverse public voices and strengthen digital activism worldwide. She also co-founded Mnemonic, Inc., developing AI-enhanced blockchain intelligence tools to increase transparency and accountability in digital ecosystems.
Across each chapter of her career, Elena has focused on one core challenge: how to turn complex data into systems that meaningfully improve human lives. Her most personal challenge came through her own health journey. After years of being told her lab results were normal while experiencing debilitating symptoms, she recognised that the issue was not a lack of data, but a failure to interpret it correctly.
