About Tash Grossman

Having spent the initial part of my career in management consulting, I decided to take the leap into entrepreneurship in 2021 and founded Slip following a personal experience I had when shopping. I found the customer experience when trying to make in-store returns very poor, especially because it relied on non-recyclable, easily loosable pieces of paper, receipts.

This frustration, partnered with my work in the retail industry, highlighted a true disconnect in the state of omnichannel.

While e-commerce has transformed customer engagement through personalisation, data-driven insights, and seamless communication, physical retail – where most transactions still happen, (70% as of 2024), has been left behind. Retailers struggle to connect with their in-store customers in any meaningful way, and outdated receipts do nothing to bridge that gap. That’s when Slip was born.

Slip reinvents the receipt, turning it into a smart, digital marketing channel that helps retailers unlock the full potential of their omnichannel customer base. By integrating seamlessly with POS and CRM systems, we give retailers real-time insights that enable them to engage, retain, and truly understand their offline shoppers. It is about more than just going paperless-it is about ensuring offline retail is not left behind in the digital revolution.

Like any startup journey, building Slip has come with its challenges. Breaking into retail tech has meant proving our vision in an industry that can be slow to change, especially given it’s a heavily male dominated industry. Further, as a first time business owner, but more specifically first-time manager, the hiring and performance management process has been a key challenge, being able to fulfill employee needs whilst balancing company priorities.

There have definitely been moments when the path forward felt uncertain, but every challenge reinforced why we are doing this, because retailers need better tools, and customers deserve better experiences.

Slip is now working with leading retailers like JD Sports and Aldo, as well as sustainable brands and SMBs across fashion, homeware, electronics, and specialty goods. This year, our focus is on scaling – expanding our retailer partnerships, refining our platform, and continuing to push the boundaries of how offline retail can evolve.

Being a founder is more than just building a company; it is about shifting an industry. I want to ensure that physical retail is not left behind, that brands have the tools they need to connect with every customer, and that something as simple as a receipt can become a powerful driver of loyalty, engagement, and growth.
