About Julia Bialetska
Julia Bialetska is the CEO and co-founder of S.Lab, a sustainable packaging technology company building a real alternative to polystyrene.
She has more than 10 years of management experience, working with international teams across different markets. Her background is not only in strategy, but in building alignment between engineers, operators, creatives and investors.
A few years ago, Julia was in Bali. Like many people, she went there expecting to see nature at its best. Instead, she saw beaches covered with plastic and packaging floating in the ocean, so Julia couldn’t stop thinking: what can I do to change it?
That was the beginning of S.Lab.
S.Lab started in Ukraine, building a sustainable packaging material from agricultural waste and mycelium. But founders did not want it to remain a small eco alternative, so, from the beginning, the goal was industrial scale. And now, while many competitors operate in semi manual setups, S.Lab has built a proprietary automated production technology that integrates robotics and smart control systems. One production site can deliver around 50,000 units per month, and they are developing a network of decentralised mini factories to scale globally.
According to company’s internal life cycle assessment, each kilogram of S.Lab material saves 6 kg of CO2 and 12 litres of water, compared to polystyrene.
Recently Julia was named a Founder of the Year in the Nordics Startup Awards, in 2025 she became a Women TechEU winner, and a year before that — received Women Leadership Award from the EIC. Her company, S.Lab, is also being recognised constantly: in 2025 it won the Green Award by LuxePack and made it to BE100 by Blue Earth, as well as Change 100 by We Make Change.
Julia cares deeply about the world her daughters are going to live in. So her goal is clear: turn sustainable packaging from a niche alternative to the default choice for businesses.
