Snoring can not only disrupt sleep quality and relationships, it can also impact health.
According to the British Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Association, 41.5% of the UK adult population snore, which is around 15 million people.
The problem is that bad sleep can have a number of repercussions on both mental and physical health. Long-term sleep loss has been associated with disorders like depression, increased risk of obesity, heart attack and stroke.
Whilst the root cause of snoring can vary from person to person, generally it can be impacted by a person’s sleeping position, weight, allergies and alcohol consumption.
Luckily, tech and startup companies have flocked to help fix the problem.
How Have Tech and Startups Solved Snoring?
Like with many problems, tech and startups have analysed the cause of snoring and come up with ways to prevent it.
Whether it’s through a lifestyle app, a wearable device or something like a smart pillow, tech is certainly one way to tackle the problem.
Let’s take a look at some of the companies pioneering this space.
Snoreeze
Snoreeze is the company behind the Snoreeze Oral Device, designed to tackle the root cause and reduce snoring.
The device is designed to be worn in the mouth at night, where it not only holds a person’s jaw in the right position but also collects data to help track snoring and breathing disruptions.
With over 88% of users singing its praises, the company has a money back guarantee, making it the perfect partner in sleep.

Smart Nora
Smart Nora uses AI to predict snoring pattens and then uses a pillow pad to adjust a person’s head position.
Given that snoring can happen when airways are blocked, the device gently adjusts a person’s pillow, helping to open up their throat muscles.
AirSnore
AirSnore is another mouthpiece, designed to keep airways open and promote better sleep through clearer nasal passages.
The mouth piece moulds itself to the inside of a person’s mouth, ensuring a customised fit. Then, it adjusts to open the upper airway, promoting better sleep and preventing snoring.
Whilst the product is relatively low tech, it has already been used and praised by over 80,000 people.
SnoreLab
The Snore Lab app measures and tracks snoring, to help people discover ways to prevent it.
By allowing users to log and track lifestyle factors, alongside their snore scores, they can more accurately figure out the root cause of snoring and prevent it.
Sleep8
Sleep8 has developed a less invasive anti-snoring device with its Anti-Snore Pad. The pad is positioned underneath the pillow and connected to a smart device.
Then, the device measures the quality of sleep and adjusts the pillow position based on what might help through contracting.
By adapting a person’s head position, the pillow is able to reduce the risk of snoring and ensure a better night’s sleep.
SomniFix
After appearing on the American version of Dragon’s Den, SomniFix made headlines for its ability to prevent snoring.
Designed to cover the mouth during sleep, the company promotes better nose breathing, which can in turn reduce snoring.
Though a slightly more alternative device to get used to, SomniFix has created a new style of product that has been replicated by a number of brands.
