GreenPT, a new European chat platform, has launched with a promise that artificial intelligence can be both powerful and climate-friendly. The company says it is the first of its kind to run fully on renewable energy while offering the same range of tools users expect from mainstream AI providers.
The platform is hosted in ISO-certified data centres across Europe and reports its environmental footprint openly. GreenPT stresses that data centres normally use vast amounts of electricity, often compared to the energy needs of small countries, but that its own service reuses heat and works with efficient infrastructure to limit waste.
Founder Robert Keus, a Dutch entrepreneur and strategist, said his team built the service to prove that AI does not have to damage the planet. His background includes nearly twenty years in digital innovation, working with public institutions and global brands. He now wants GreenPT to set an example for technology that does not sacrifice the climate for progress.
What Makes GreenPT Different From Other AI Platforms?
The company says it is more than a green alternative. Its features cover advanced reasoning, multilingual chat, code generation, vision analysis, and speech-to-text through an EU-hosted version of Deepgram. The service is based on GPT models and open-source systems, designed to keep performance high without excessive energy use.
Privacy is another selling point. GreenPT runs fully within the European Union and follows GDPR rules. It promises zero data retention and strict data sovereignty, something that separates it from many global providers that store user information indefinitely.
According to the company, these two foundations — sustainability and privacy — are the pillars on which the platform has been built. The team says both individuals and organisations can use GreenPT without compromising their ethical standards.

How Much Does It Cost To Use GreenPT?
GreenPT has created a tiered subscription model. A free plan covers casual use, with 15 prompts per day, access to chat, document uploads, AI search, and basic support.
For €4.50 a month, the Starter plan gives the same features but with a daily cap, while the Pro version at €17.50 a month removes limits, unlocks API access, and allows unlimited projects. Teams can also subscribe at €17.50 per month, gaining shared workspaces, note taking in English, a prompt library, and links to services like OneDrive and Google Drive.
There is also an API pricing structure for developers. The GreenL model charges €0.25 per million tokens for input and €0.80 for output. The GreenR model is slightly higher at €0.35 for input and €0.95 for output. Both options need an active Pro or Teams subscription.
Why Does It Matter For AI’s Environmental Future?
Data centres that run advanced models consume more power than entire countries, a trend that is becoming more and more apparent as the demand for AI goes up.
GreenPT wants to prove that it is possible to change that pattern. Every conversation on its platform is powered by renewable energy. The company hopes that transparent reporting and emission rights will build trust and set a standard for competitors.
In their own words, the team says the future of AI must be green. If that claim holds, the launch of GreenPT could change how AI is built and hosted in Europe.
