Top Alternatives To Expedia For Travellers

Expedia Group has taken the temperature of the business travel world and the mood is upbeat. According to new research by Censuswide, out of 214 senior decision makers surveyed, 95% of travel management company leaders feel optimistic about the next 3 years.

Corporate travel programmes are returning and demand is picking up. That is the good news.

The tricky part of all this, is execution. Expedia Group’s report, The future of business travel: Is market optimism outpacing capability, finds that traveller expectations have gone up across blended trip planning at 85%, booking simplicity at 84%, loyalty rewards at 83%, personalisation at 81% and mobile booking at 76%. Only 30% to 40% of TMC leaders say they feel very confident they can meet those needs today. Confidence is lowest at larger TMCs with more than 250 employees, where operations are more complex.

Carolina Cabero, SVP Expedia Group B2B, puts it plainly. “Business travel is entering a phase of immense opportunity – and equally immense pressure. Leaders know exactly what travellers want, but many lack confidence that their current systems can deliver,” she says.

“Closing that gap is now the challenge. With integrated platforms enhanced by AI and stronger tech investments – such as Expedia Group B2B’s extended Rapid API offering – TMCs can meet rising expectations with confidence, adapt faster, and lead the next era of business travel with certainty.”

Every respondent says they have adopted AI and 97% are investing in automation and real time data analytics. Fewer than half believe their budgets for new technologies are enough. Ambition is racing ahead of readiness.

What Is Happening With Expedia Group Partnerships?

Ahead of this year’s big soccer tournament, Expedia Group has also teamed up with PredictHQ to plug real world event data straight into Partner Central, the platform hotels use to manage rates and performance.

New forecasts from PredictHQ, working with Expedia Group, project total traveller spend across accommodation, food and drink and ground transport in North America’s host cities will exceed $8.1 billion between June and August 2026. That is nearly $750 million higher than last year. Accommodation spending alone is projected to go from $2.6 billion to $4.8 billion year on year.

Arlington, Texas could see total traveller spend pass $562 million, a 135% increase YoY. Foxborough, Massachusetts is projected at +161%. Expedia Group data shows inbound demand into Dallas from Japan is up 1,820% above typical weeks and from the UK up 1,530%. Demand from Australia to Seattle is up 400%.

Campbell Brown, CEO of PredictHQ, says: “Major global events or groupings of harder-to-track, smaller events both create highly concentrated and fast-moving demand patterns that traditional forecasting models and AI systems lack the real-world context to detect. Demand does not move in straight lines; it responds to what is happening in the world every day. By partnering with Expedia Group, we are embedding this trusted, explainable context directly into decision-making, enabling travel providers to anticipate demand shifts earlier and capture revenue that would otherwise be missed.”

Susan Spinney, Senior Vice President, Hotel Market Partnerships at Expedia Group, adds: “What makes this powerful is how we connect predictive intelligence directly to commercial action. We’re not just identifying demand – we’re enabling partners to respond immediately in Partner Central, whether that’s adjusting strategy, increasing visibility through TravelAds, or targeting the right domestic and international travelers at the right time. It’s about turning foresight into measurable growth.”

Who On Earth Is Expedia Group?

Expedia Group, Inc. listed on NASDAQ under EXPE, describes itself as a global travel marketplace with a single purpose to help travellers explore the world, one journey at a time.

It also runs a large B2B travel business and an advertising network. The company says it connects travellers, partners and advertisers through its technology and first party data, serving millions of travellers in more than 70 countries.

As for travel platforms, its brands include Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo.

Does Expedia Have Competitors?

Expedia is a well-known platform for travellers, but did you know that there are so many more platforms that have similar offerings? Well, here are 10 useful alternatives:

Priceline

Priceline is a platform that sells all kinds of transport and accommodation packages. Its Express Deals feature allows you to see lower prices, before revealing the hotel name. This is great for travellers who are budget-focused over being brand-focused when it comes to picking locations.

Vrbo

Vrbo, under Expedia Group, is a platform perfect for families and groups who want to book longer stays at holiday homes. Here, you’ll find cottages, houses and flats that aren’t shared. Hosts can determine their own prices and property rules, and guests simply pay through the platform.

This is perfect for travellers who want self-catering options that feel like a home away from home.

Agoda

Agoda is mainly used in Asia, but works globally. With properties such as hotels, apartments and resorts, travellers can find all kinds of options. Agoda is known for its super competitive prices, especially in cities like Bangkok, Tokyo and Singapore.

What’s interesting about Agoda is that there’s a feature that allows day stays. So, if you’re travelling on the move and you need a place to crash for a few hours, this is the perfect option over paying for a full night’s stay.

Hopper

Hopper is an app that tracks flight and hotel prices for you. Using data, it estimates whether a fair will go up or down. That way, users know when the best times to book are. Hopper also has a feature called “price freeze” where it holds the price you spotted in that moment.

This is great for travellers who want the best rates, because travel prices fluctuate quite a bit, especially recently.

Trip.com

Trip.com is a travel site that is mainly popular in Asia, but like Agoda, also available globally. It has hotels, flights, trains and attraction tickets on sale. Great for global travel because it works in different languages and currencies.

They’ve got package deals that pair flights and hotels with customer support to help at every step of the way.

Travala

Travala is an online booking platform where crypto is accepted, along with your standard payment methods. This stands out for travellers who prefer to use crypto as their method of payment. With over 3 million travel products, you’ll find all kinds of hotels, flights and activities to pick from.

Skyscanner

Skyscanner is a platform that allows you to compare flights. You can find all the different airline and agency prices in one place instead of hopping from site to site. Although you cannot directly make bookings on the site, it serves as a good tool to help decide which companies to go with when travelling as far as pricing and ratings go.

KAYAK

KAYAK is a metasearch engine that compares things like flights and hotels across different company sites. Like Skyscanner, it helps travellers compare prices and it can also forecast days with the best prices.

It’ll then send you to the chosen company’s site to complete the booking with the agreed pricing.

Booking.com

Out of all these alternatives, this is the most well-known and widely used platform for travel bookings. Users can find the best deals with the price matching feature, and earn discounts and free breakfasts or room upgrades with the Genius feature. This is the 3 tier rewards scheme that furthers the discounts that the company claims cannot be contested.

This alternative has the most listings and support features, and has a very easy and seamless user experience.

Orbitz

Also in the group Expedia belongs to, this alternative helps with your travel needs. This one is for travellers who want the same user experience as the main travel sites, but wants to explore different companies.

With their Orbucks scheme, similar to Booking.com’s Genius feature, users can earn rewards on bookings to use in the future.
