About Rogervoice

Rogervoice is an AI-powered app that delivers real-time captions for phone calls, giving deaf and hard-of-hearing users independent, private access to conversations once out of reach. Before Rogervoice, captioned calling depended on human relay operators, limiting language coverage, availability and privacy. Rogervoice is a global pioneer in AI built for live mobile phone calls, not generic transcription. The app has enabled more than 12 million captioned calls across over 100 languages and 50 countries. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) National Test Lab independently verified that Rogervoice captions arrive twice as fast as the certified provider average on a medical call scenario.

The company was founded in 2014 by Olivier Jeannel, who has been profoundly deaf since the age of two, and built Rogervoice from firsthand understanding of the problem. When AI transcription was not yet mainstream, Rogervoice was one of the earliest movers in applying it to live mobile phone call conversations.

The central technical challenge was phone audio: compressed, noisy, full of overlapping speakers and varied accents, with captions needing to keep pace with a live conversation without sacrificing accuracy. Rogervoice integrated AI directly into the telecommunications stack, managing a call from routing to on-screen captions, rather than treating transcription as a bolt-on service.

Rogervoice’s defensibility comes less from model development and more from over a decade of go-to-market and product integration built around this use case: more than 12 million real calls have shaped how the product handles accents, speaking styles, and noisy conditions in practice, an operational depth that is hard for new entrants to replicate quickly. Privacy was addressed from inception: conversations are encrypted end-to-end, no human operator listens in, data isn’t sold, third parties aren’t on the call, and the platform is GDPR compliant.

Rogervoice has FCC certification as a captioned telephone provider in the United States, which anchors its US economics: certification channels federally funded Telecommunications Relay Services support to cover the cost of captioned calls. Tied to a federal program rather than direct consumer payment, the service is free and unlimited for eligible users, uncapped by personal budget, driving higher call volume and a more durable revenue base than a pay-for-yourself model. The app is rated highest among FCC-certified captioned call providers on the App Store and Google Play in the U.S. (as of August 2026), and its user base spans generations, from students in their twenties and professionals in their thirties to users in their eighties.

The impact on the US ecosystem centres on accessibility infrastructure for 50 million deaf and hard-of-hearing Americans, according to the Hearing Loss Association of America, many of whom have historically avoided phone calls altogether or relied on family members to call on their behalf. US operations are led by a Country Manager recognised among the 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics. Rogervoice is expanding the app with new AI-powered tools: real-time captions for in-person conversations, automatic speaker identification so users know who said what, and context-aware correction of difficult words such as names and places.
