For years, humanoid robots were judged by the spectacle of their demos; backflips, dance routines, viral videos. In 2025–2026, the metric changed. The question manufacturers and investors now ask is simpler and far harder: can the machine hold a shift on a real factory floor?
Driven by labour shortages, advances in foundation models and the broader industrial AI trend, humanoids are moving out of research labs and into warehouses, logistics hubs and production lines. Below is a look at five companies leading that transition and why the next two years will decide who turns prototypes into products.

The current wave of humanoid robotics is shaped less by legacy giants and more by founder-led companies betting on tight integration of hardware and AI. Brett Adcock built Figure AI around its in-house Helix platform; Jeff Cardenas took Apptronik from university labs to factory pilots; and UK-based Humanoid, founded by Sokolov Artem in 2024, entered the race with an explicitly industrial mandate.

- California-based Figure AI, founded by Brett Adcock, is one of the best-funded startups in the field.

Apptronik

Artem Sokolov’s Humanoid Strategy
While many competitors chase the consumer dream, Artem Sokolov’s Humanoid has deliberately narrowed its battlefield to factories and logistics and the approach is already producing verifiable results.
“At Siemens’ electronics factory in Erlangen, Germany, the wheeled HMND 01 Alpha was deployed in live logistics operations, autonomously picking, transporting and placing totes for human operators. The robot met all target metrics: 60 tote moves per hour, more than eight hours of uptime and pick-and-place success rates above 90 percent. The platform is built on NVIDIA’s full physical AI stack, Jetson Thor for edge computing, Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab for simulation and policy training, a simulation-first approach that compressed prototype development from the typical 18–24 months to just seven,” explains Artem Sokolov, investor and entrepreneur.
In early 2026, a proof of concept with SAP and automotive supplier Martur Fompak went a step further: HMND 01 robots received tasks directly from SAP’s Joule agent layer, navigated to pallets, retrieved KLT boxes and handled three different tote types with an 8 kg dual-arm payload, the first time the robot was controlled by an external enterprise system in live production. A separate proof of concept at the Ford Innovation Centre extends the same playbook deeper into automotive workflows.
The ambition behind Sokolov Artem, an investor turned founder, is explicit: his robotics venture aims to become the number-one general-purpose industrial humanoid company within two years.
