About Hallmaster

Hallmaster is a UK-developed venue management platform, created to simplify bookings, invoicing, payments and day-to-day administration and make life easier for the people who keep communities running. Today the company is trusted by 3,500+ venues worldwide, with the software reducing administration time, preventing booking conflicts and helping volunteer-led organisations spend less of their working day managing buildings and more time bringing people together.

Bernard Hammick created Hallmaster in 2010 to solve real operational challenges faced by his campsite business. Bookings and payments were difficult to track and Bernard had the web experience needed to create a solution. He quickly realised that other venues shared the same problems and grew the platform to support new integrations (e.g. accounting, heating, remote door access and invoicing), multiple users/admins and a UK-based customer support team.

Hallmaster operates within the SaaS and venue management sector, serving a diverse customer base including village and community halls, churches, charities, sports clubs, theatres, schools, meeting spaces, local authorities and commercial venues like recording studios and more. Many customers are volunteer-led organisations, making ease of use, reliability and responsive support critical to their success. The platform is updated regularly, based on user suggestions where something could be improved or updated and has maintained a record of more than 99.9% system uptime, which we are very proud of.

Hallmaster started as an industry leader in the booking space. Many other brands have also recognised the need for comprehensive booking platforms and startups, so competition is certainly a challenge Hallmaster has faced. What really differentiates the Hallmaster software from competitors is the customer-first approach. Rather than building features for the sake of innovation, every development is driven by direct customer feedback and practical operational needs. Hallmaster’s competitors have also recognised the need to address customers’ pain points and day-to-day issues running these venues; however, [to our knowledge] they haven’t combined all the integrations in the same way into one truly intuitive system, helping organisations reduce administration, eliminate double bookings and operate more efficiently.

Hallmaster’s growth has been built on long-term relationships and exceptional customer service. Over 70 organisations have remained customers for over 12 years, while independent reviews consistently recognise the company’s knowledgeable UK-based support team. In the past year alone, Hallmaster welcomed 280+ new organisations, delivered 12 major software updates, supported 1million+ bookings annually and generated a huge amount of essential revenue for those venues.

Beyond the software itself, Hallmaster works closely with organisations including Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) and Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), providing training, guidance and sector support. When legislative changes come into place (e.g. Martyn’s Law) we support our partners and venues with guidance, updates to the software and customer support to help them feel confident and capable.

Hallmaster’s bottom line is: by helping organisations spend less time on administration and more time serving their communities, we enable millions of people every year to connect, learn, volunteer and participate in activities that matter most to them.
