About Nuumad
Founded in 2022, Nuumad is a UK healthtech SaaS company helping community pharmacies deliver clinical and private healthcare services more efficiently, consistently and at scale.
Nuumad was created in response to a clear operational challenge. Community pharmacies were being asked to deliver an expanding range of clinical services while facing both increasing financial and staffing pressures. Yet many still relied on paper forms, manual processes and disconnected systems to manage consultations. These workflows consumed valuable staff time, made services harder to scale and created unnecessary administrative complexity.
Nuumad set out to solve this by building a digital platform around the way pharmacy teams actually work. Rather than simply digitising existing paperwork, the company redesigned consultation workflows from the ground up, combining appointment booking, patient risk assessment, structured clinical consultations, PGD workflows, GP communication and service management within one platform.
The result is a SaaS solution that makes complex services easier to deliver while creating measurable operational value for pharmacy businesses. Travel health consultations that traditionally took around 50 minutes can typically be completed in 10 to 15 minutes through Nuumad’s structured workflows. This gives pharmacy teams greater capacity to serve patients, reduces administrative workload and helps pharmacies expand their private healthcare offering. At Pinhoe Pharmacy in Exeter, Nuumad helped the team generate between £120,000 and £150,000 in additional revenue from travel health and weight-management clinics over 18 months – without increasing headcount or affecting dispensing volumes.
Today, more than 1,100 pharmacies across the UK use Nuumad, with the platform supporting more than 140,000 patient consultations across 47 PGD-based clinical services. Its customer base spans independent pharmacies and larger pharmacy groups, demonstrating the platform’s ability to support different operating models while maintaining consistent workflows and governance.
Scalability has been central to the product’s development. Nuumad uses structured, deterministic workflows and exact data matching rather than relying on probabilistic AI for clinical pathways where consistency and traceability are critical. Its subscription model, reassignable licences and multi-site functionality allow pharmacy groups to roll out services across locations while managing users centrally.
The company has overcome significant challenges along the way. Nuumad remains self-funded, with £50,000 in innovation grant funding, and the founders spent 13 months developing the first version before launch. This slower, research-led approach allowed the platform to be shaped through direct observation, user research and continuous collaboration with pharmacy professionals.
Nuumad has since grown from an early-stage startup into a growing SaaS platform with a growing footprint across UK community pharmacy. Its impact extends beyond individual consultations: by making clinical services easier to operate and scale, Nuumad helps pharmacies diversify their revenue, improve staff productivity and strengthen their role as accessible healthcare providers.
The next stage is further platform expansion, with Nuumad developing into additional healthcare settings including dentistry and private GP services, alongside deeper integrations and new clinical workflows. These developments will allow Nuumad to extend the operational benefits of its platform beyond community pharmacy and support a wider range of healthcare providers.
