Headquartered in Switzerland, pCloud is a file storage and backup service for individuals, families and businesses, based in the cloud.
With both a US and European data centre, we give customers an unrivalled choice in where to store their files, highlighting our commitment to data security and privacy. This is bolstered by client-side encryption across all accounts and our ‘pCloud Crypto Encryption’ for business accounts, both of which protect customer’s digital privacy with the highest level of security.

How did you come up with the idea for the company?
We founded the company as we were concerned about the privacy and security offered by competitors in the cloud space and therefore, recognised the need for a solution that didn’t limit usability yet remained highly robust.
In a world where data is in high demand and many of the tech giants are often scrutinised for the way they handle and monetise personal data, we are dedicated to understanding our customers and the security needed to store, move and share their important files.

What advice would you give to other aspiring entrepreneurs?
Planning and proactivity is vital to how we do business at pCloud, so I believe preparation is key. Whether that’s assessing all possible risks before making a big business decision or giving enough resources to internal processes, it pays to be informed.
It is also important to ensure you have the right attitude. When starting out in the cyber security industry specifically, leaders need to approach each decision carefully as any early data breaches could be detrimental to the brand.
Research and education are two other areas that I think should be a focus for any aspiring entrepreneur. The choices you make early in the company’s life may affect business down the line. Each service you use, including your data storage provider, should be considered and employees need to be educated in and prepared for any possible security issues.
What can we hope to see from pCloud in the future?
Our sector has grown immensely over the past year, supercharged by remote working, which was bought on by the pandemic. This monumental change meant businesses had to collaborate virtually and it highlighted the need for not only data mobility, but the strictest data security.
As people return to the office environment and many continue to work in a hybrid manner, the importance of data security is still as important.
We know that to succeed in the digital world you must stay ahead of cybercriminals and with digital transformation ongoing, we remain forward-thinking, constantly monitoring our practices and updating where necessary, to be at the forefront of our industry.
