I love being Jamaican. In Jamaica they have one of the most expensive coffees in the world growing on the mountains above me. While shopping, I would walk into some high end retailers and ask if they knew where the coffee is from. A lot of them didn’t know the answers and I knew our stories were lost.
I wanted to start a company that focuses on women and the power of women. In addition, the recognition of the work women through sharing their stories. I also want to bring back culture to coffee.
How did you come up with the idea for the company?
We have been in the UK since December 2017 and were fortunate enough to be accepted into the City University launch lab program which allowed us to register our company in the UK and give us support and marketing.
We were able to do research on UK consumers and the market spend. We spent time meeting people in the industry and learning more.
At the time, we just had coffee bags that couldn’t even stand up on a shelf, and I knew we wanted to work towards getting better packaging that could look more appealing and presentable to customers.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?
We are currently stocked in Selfridges and Wholefoods. We have expanded so much and wish to be stocked in more retailers.
What can we hope to see from Little Coffee Company in the future?
I want to be able to solve more problems for the women we work with and be more disruptive in the coffee industry. The right team, an extended product line and hopefully more retailers would be great too.
We launched in Wholefoods and we want to be stocked on more shelves. We are also looking for investment to help scale our business and bring in the right people.
