About Recite Me
Recite Me helps organisations identify, understand and remove barriers across websites, documents and online content. We combine tech, AI innovation with human-centred accessibility expertise to make digital experiences more inclusive for everyone.
Recite Me was founded in 2010. Our CEO, who is dyslexic, experienced first-hand the limitations of traditional assistive technology.
Existing solutions were expensive, tied to individual devices and inaccessible for many people. Digital accessibility was being treated as a personal responsibility rather than something organisations should build into their digital experiences.
To address this, we started with the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar, a cloud-based accessibility solution that allows users to personalise websites to suit their needs through tools such as text-to-speech, translation, reading aids, styling controls and colour adjustment.
Most recently, we have significantly expanded our AI accessibility capabilities to help organisations move beyond basic compliance and take meaningful action at scale.
The Recite MeToolbar applies AI directly in the browser experience to support end users in real time. It includes AI features such as page summarisation which generates concise overviews of web content to improve comprehension and accessibility. It also provides simplified content rewriting, allowing users to convert complex text into easier-to-read formats. Alongside this, AI-powered dictionary and language tools help users understand unfamiliar terms and translate or adapt content into different languages, supporting a more inclusive browsing experience.
Powered by AI, the Recite Me Accessibility Checker platform runs more than 200 automated accessibility tests across websites and digital experiences, more than twice the industry standard. The accessibility checker helps organisations identify critical accessibility barriers while providing intelligent recommendations and prioritised fixes, making accessibility management faster, more scalable and easier to action.
AI-driven auto-fix technology applies smart temporary solutions to key accessibility issues while organisations work towards permanent remediation. This helps reduce immediate barriers for users without waiting for full redevelopment projects. Our AI powered alt tag generator automatically creates image descriptions across multiple languages to improve access for screen reader users and support organisations managing large volumes of content.
Our PDF Remediation and PDF Intercept solutions use AI to address a key challenging for digital accessibility fixing PDFs at scale. AI-driven remediation automatically analyses document structure, rebuilds reading order, generates alt text for images, and fixes tagging issues across thousands of documents simultaneously, resolving all 23 WCAG PDF-related criteria.
PDF Intercept layers conversational AI on top, instantly providing an accessible HTML alternative format. Users can interrogate documents in multiple languages, access auto-generated summaries and FAQs, and have acronyms explained in context.
Together, they turn what was once a slow, expensive, and largely manual process into a continuous, AI-powered programme of documented accessibility progress.
In 2025 alone, the Recite Me Toolbar was launched more than 8 million times and we made over 60 million webpages inclusive. Organisations using our technology have reported improved digital engagement, increased workforce diversity and reduced support enquiries.
Recite Me is focused on developing AI that not only identifies barriers, but actively helps organisations remove them faster, smarter and at scale.
