Business: Commercial open source software that enables enterprise features in any SaaS app
About Carlos, Deepak and BoxyHQ
Boxy is a commercial open source software that enables enterprise features in any SaaS app with just a few lines of code. The startup was founded in August 2021 and it has already raised $2.5 million in a seed funding round.
Startups lack resources to be compliant with the security guidelines set out by enterprises. These involve non-core feature development resulting in developer time and high costs that could be better spent on their core product and offerings.
This is a problem Deepak Prabhakara experienced first hand whilst getting Red Sift enterprise ready and Sama (Carlos Samame) identified as a key challenge while connecting enterprises with startups at Amazon Web Services. Their purpose is to democratise innovation and give startups the capabilities and tools to sell to any enterprise in the world.
Presently, Boxy enables you to add single sign on authentication into your product and add audit logs into your product with ease. Soon, you’ll also be able to add a privacy vault, role-based access and permissions, and a directory sync with Boxy.
In short, Boxy is code in a box that allows any startup to be enterprise-ready and compliant. Why open source? Simple, software is eating the world, but open source is eating software.
