Interview With Andriy Cherednychenko, CMO at JobCannon

JobCannon is revolutionising recruitment as a technology and changing the way we look at the ideology of the process itself. We’ve positioned ourselves as business creatives, leveraging the power of AI to transform the way job seekers connect with opportunities and how employers find their ideal candidates.

Established in 2022, our team, consisting of both Ukrainian and Israeli founders, has rapidly grown, and we’re proud to be making significant strides in the industry.

What motivated you to establish JobCannon, and what problems are you aiming to solve in this competitive market?

The motivation behind JobCannon stems from personal and professional experiences. Throughout my life and career, I consistently faced the challenge of matching the right people with the right companies. Regular recruiting services rely on text resumes that aren’t independently verified.

Employers spend 2-3 interviews just to confirm a candidate’s basic skills and relevance. We’re flipping the script by putting assessments at the heart of our process, cutting hiring time in half and saving candidates time on the job hunt, while helping employers to get the most suitable candidate from the first interaction.

What problems your platform aims to solve in the highly competitive UK job market?

JobCannon was born out of the recognition of persistent challenges in the job market. One of the key problems we address is the inefficiency and frustration in the hiring process. Traditional methods often lead to mismatches between candidates and roles, wasting both time and resources. JobCannon leverages AI to streamline job searches and talent acquisition, focusing on prioritising skills over resumes.

Our goal is to create meaningful connections between job seekers and the right opportunities while helping employers identify their ideal candidates more efficiently. With an assessment-based approach, job seekers don’t have to waste their time anymore to make personalised cover letters and complete dozens of test assignments only to get to the interview stage. It works for all three groups of candidates: senior, mid, and junior specialists.

A job seeker completes the assessment once and it will work for all the employers equally. We care about saving time and money as much as we do about finding the perfect match on both sides.

How have you observed the UK jobs market evolving over the past few years, and how has it influenced your approach at JobCannon?

The UK job market has undergone significant changes, with a notable shift towards digitisation and remote work. JobCannon recognises the need for a more dynamic and tech-driven approach to recruitment.

Also, the complexities of visa requirements and the rising costs of living pose additional challenges to the job market. JobCannon addresses these by providing transparency and clarity in the job-matching process. We consider factors such as location, visa requirements, and salary expectations, ensuring that both companies and candidates have a clear understanding of the opportunities available. This approach contributes to a more informed decision-making process for all parties involved.

Also, dealing with scammers and those who falsify information on their CVs can be a significant drain on resources.JobCannon addresses this by incorporating robust verification processes into our platform. By leveraging technology to validate skills and experiences, we aim to reduce the likelihood of companies investing time in candidates who may not be genuine.

Speaking of hiring processes, how have you seen them transform, especially in the context of technological advancements?

Technology has indeed played a crucial role in reshaping hiring processes. We’ve witnessed a move towards more data-driven decision-making, with AI and automation streamlining various aspects of recruitment. JobCannon aligns with this trend by integrating AI to simplify the hiring journey.

Our platform’s innovative approach focuses on a single assessment for all positions, reducing redundancy in the evaluation process and allowing candidates to emphasise their unique skills.

With the rise of software and technological advances in HR, do you believe HR professionals are still in demand?

While technology is transforming the HR landscape, it doesn’t diminish the importance of human expertise. HR professionals play a crucial role in understanding the unique needs of both companies and candidates. The integration of technology enhances their capabilities, allowing them to make more informed decisions, streamline processes and focus on strategic aspects of human resource management.

AI automates repetitive tasks like resume screening, allowing recruiters to focus on more strategic aspects of the hiring process, such as candidate engagement, relationship-building, and talent development. By leveraging AI-driven tools, organisations can delve deeper into candidate data, uncovering valuable insights that may otherwise go unnoticed. These technologies employ advanced algorithms to assess candidate qualifications, predict job fit, and even forecast future performance.

Finally, considering JobCannon’s use of AI, do you believe AI is having a significant impact on the overall job market?

Without a doubt, AI is reshaping the job market. It has become a game-changer in terms of efficiency, personalisation, and data-driven decision-making. JobCannon harnesses the power of AI to make the recruitment process more intelligent and adaptive.

By leveraging AI, we not only address current market needs but also contribute to the ongoing transformation of how individuals find opportunities and companies discover talent. The impact of AI is undeniable, and we are excited to be at the forefront of this evolution in the job market.
