Tell us about Beware of Bytes!
Beware of Bytes! is a partnership between two experienced game development studios, General Arcade and Lunate. We joined forces to combine our strengths in engineering and production, with the aim of tackling technically demanding and creatively ambitious projects.
From remasters of cult classics to deep integration work across multiple platforms, we focus on delivering high-quality results. It’s less about merging companies and more about multiplying capabilities; a collaboration where each team brings its best to the table.
What do you think makes Beware of Bytes! unique?
Beware of Bytes! was built around a different model. Instead of growing into a single large studio, we combined two specialised teams – each with deep expertise – into one tightly integrated partnership. That gives us the flexibility of a small studio with the capabilities of a much larger one.
We focus on the kinds of projects that are technically demanding; whether it’s remastering a legacy title without source code, building complex platform-specific features, or integrating deep system-level tech. These are the challenges we’re known for and where we thrive.
What also sets us apart is our investment in R&D and tools. We build internal middleware that speeds up production and raises quality. It means our partners not only get results faster, but benefit from long-term improvements to their pipelines.
In short, we’re the team you call when the work is hard, the tech is messy, and the margin for error is slim.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?
The partnership itself is relatively new, but it’s grown quickly out of necessity and demand. We started by teaming up on a few projects where one side needed extra firepower. Before long, we realised this wasn’t just a one-off, there was a real synergy here. So, we formalised it.
In just a short time, we’ve been trusted with remastering legacy titles, helping studios scale during tight deadlines, and solving some pretty niche technical challenges – all while operating across different time zones without friction.
What can we hope to see from Beware of Bytes! in the future?
We’re just getting started. Our vision is to build a collaborative network that combines the flexibility of an outsourcing studio with the expertise of a veteran development team. Beyond our current focus on engineering-heavy work, we’re planning to grow by bringing in partner studios that specialise in areas like art outsourcing, QA, and localization. The goal is to offer a full-spectrum development solution – everything from porting and remastering to complete end-to-end production support.
We’re also investing in internal tools and middleware, especially around video playback and porting tech, to make our workflows even more efficient. Ultimately, we want to be the go-to team when a project needs experience, speed, and top-tier execution – all under one roof.
