About Nuumad

Nuumad is a UK-based health tech startup that provides a digital consultation and Patient Group Direction (PGD) platform for community pharmacies and private clinics. Founded in 2022 by Judit Mora and Nicholas Batten, they had a clear ambition to help community pharmacies deliver safer, more efficient clinical services through better technology.

The founders recognised that pharmacies were facing growing financial pressures while demand for accessible healthcare continued to increase. Many pharmacies relied on paper-based processes or outdated software to deliver private services such as travel health and vaccinations, making consultations time-consuming, difficult to scale and inconsistent. Drawing on backgrounds in healthcare technology, user experience and digital product development, they created Nuumad to simplify service delivery while maintaining high clinical standards.

Building the company was far from straightforward. As first-time founders without access to established investor networks, Judit and Nicholas self-funded the business while continuing other professional work. Rather than prioritising rapid growth, they focused on careful product development, working directly with pharmacists to understand real consultation workflows and identify operational challenges. The first version of the platform took over a year to develop and was refined through continuous feedback from frontline pharmacy teams.

The company also entered a highly regulated healthcare sector where trust, compliance and patient safety are essential. Success depended on proving that technology could improve care without compromising clinical governance. Nuumad was able to address this by embedding structured workflows, clinical safety processes and user-centred design into every stage of development. Even when faced with competitive pressure and legal challenges from established providers, the team remained focused on solving genuine problems experienced by pharmacy professionals.

Since its launch, Nuumad has been adopted by more than 1,050 pharmacies across the United Kingdom, supporting over 120,000 consultations and enabling pharmacies to deliver 47 PGD-based clinical services more efficiently.

The platform has transformed how pharmacies deliver care. Travel health consultations that previously took around 50 minutes can now often be completed in 10 to 15 minutes through structured digital workflows. Standardised consultation processes improve consistency, reduce administrative burden and provide clinical safety support that gives pharmacy teams greater confidence, including less experienced staff.

Beyond improving day-to-day operations, Nuumad helps pharmacies diversify into private clinical services. By making complex consultations easier to deliver, the platform enables pharmacies to expand access to preventative healthcare closer to where patients live while creating more sustainable revenue streams.

In just four years, Nuumad has grown from a self-funded startup into a platform that helps community pharmacies deliver accessible, high-quality clinical services through technology designed around real-world practice.
