SoftSmile is a New York based medtech company founded in 2020. It develops AI powered clinical infrastructure that reduces the time and cost of orthodontic treatment planning, helping make high quality aligner treatment more accessible and affordable for doctors and patients.
Until recently, preparing a single aligner case could require technicians to spend 4 to five 5 on manual work. They had to segment scans, trace teeth and soft tissue, identify roots and landmarks, and prepare the case for clinical review. These processes only increased costs, slowed down order fulfillment times, and left orthodontists with less time to make clinical decisions that required their professional expertise.
SoftSmile was founded to change this. Its flagship product, VISION, brings AI powered diagnostics, scan segmentation, 3D treatment planning and case management into one workflow led by the orthodontist. Tasks can now be completed in minutes.
VISION received FDA 510k clearance in 2021. Today, VISION supports more than 1,000 doctors through licensed software, treatment planning services for aligner brands and dental laboratories, and the SoftSmile Aligner System. More than 10,000 treatment plans are exported every month through VISION channels. More than 200,000 patients worldwide have been treated using SoftSmile technology.
In 2026, SoftSmile launched Vision Concierge, a conversational AI agent that helps clinical teams retrieve patient information, create clinical summaries, translate records and complete routine forms through simple text requests. By reducing administrative work, Vision Concierge helps practices operate more efficiently while preserving doctor control over clinical decisions.
The team is building technology that removes unnecessary manual work from orthodontic care without removing the clinician from the process. Its goal is to give more practices access to advanced treatment planning tools and help more patients receive high quality aligner treatment.
