Is This The Future of Managing Diabetes in Gen Z?

LovedBy and Dexcom Announce Partnership to Help Adolescent Diabetes Patients

New Collaboration Helps Gen Z Manage Diabetes

LovedBy, a technology and consultancy business that exists to improve the lives of people, their families, and communities, today announces a data partnership with glucose monitor manufacturer Dexcom, which will help adolescent patients with diabetes to better cope with their condition.

Dexcom manufactures world-leading wearable continuous glucose monitoring devices, in the form of a small patch on the arm that streams real-time glucose data to an app on the users’ smartphone. LovedBy, experts in Gen Z behaviour change, translate the data and place it into context through small 30-second snippets to help the younger audience understand the information and guide them towards better condition outcomes.

Personalising Diabetes Care

The data-sharing partnership is the latest move in an ongoing collaboration between the two companies, with the shared goal of bringing contextual and personalised educational content to adolescents with Type 1 diabetes, to help them with their condition.

The most recent figures from the International Diabetes Federation show that more than 1.1 million children and adolescents are living with Type 1 diabetes worldwide, who require different types of condition management to adults.

Matt Farrar, CEO of LovedBy, comments:

“Dexcom has supported our aspirations to impact the lives of millions of adolescents for two years now. We work well together, because we take their amazing real time glucose data and humanise it: by converting it to real life context that our GenZ audience can understand. We are working across clinical trials in the UK as well as a long-term strategy and joint marketing activity to our Gen Z community in the UK, EMEA and the US. We are thoroughly looking forward to working with them over the coming years.”

Erik Bjorkman, General Manager and SVP, DexCom, commented:

“We’re thrilled to continue our ongoing, exciting work with the team at LovedBy, who help Dexcom bring effective diabetes management to even more people through their expertise in Gen Z.”

LovedBy brings together behavioural specialists, neurologists, consultants and coders to make tools that deliver genuine behaviour change, specialising in Gen Z – and have worked with the likes of the NHS and AXA Health. Founder Matt Farrar spent years leading a tech and design agency, before his adolescent son was unexpectedly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes – here Matt learned of current inadequacies with adolescent care and effective healthcare communication to Gen Z.
