What is GoHenry?

The GoHenry app gives young people the freedom to learn and take charge of their own spending and saving in a safe environment, while the app’s parent version allows parents to guide kids through the early stages of digital finance, including setting tasks to encourage the concept of earning.

GoHenry is all about making learning the four pillars of good money management – earn, save, spend, and give – a fun and interactive experience. This includes letting children show off their independent style with a range of card designs that can be personalised in their name – e.g. ‘goalice or gosydney’.

Is there a market for financial learning tools for young people?

Definitely! Personal finance skills aren’t taught in school, and a lot of young people either learn through experience or from their parents.

Studies have shown that a lot of young people feel they have below average financial literacy, although they are aware that these skills will have a huge impact on their lives.

Empowering young people to take ownership over their finances in a controlled environment means they are more likely to make smart decisions as adults when it comes to saving and spending.

“We want our kids to be smart with money, understand wants vs. needs, create savings habits, make investment decisions, use money to help others, take responsibility and understand when it’s gone, it’s gone. We created GoHenry with the goal of helping kids and teens learn about money in a practical, fun way and provide all the tools to help parents nurture healthy financial habits in their children.” – GoHenry Spokesperson

What products does GoHenry have?

Kids’ Debit Card and App

The benefit for kids

Kids can select one of 45+ designs to suit their personality and enjoy their very own kids’ debit card, plus gain points & badges in the app when they learn a new skill. It’s a prepaid debit card, so they’ll never risk overdraft and can spend responsibly.

The benefit for parents

When choosing a debit card for children, you’ll find GoHenry offers tons more for parents, too. Organise their pocket money with the simplest card and pocket money manager app right at your fingertips.

What are the fees?

There are no hidden fees with GoHenry. You will only be charged the monthly fee, which is currently £2.99 per month. This gives you access to all of the features of GoHenry, including the children’s prepaid debit card, paid tasks, parental controls, and more.

Where can the card be used?

A GoHenry card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted. This includes online, in stores, and at ATMs. For your peace of mind, GoHenry blocks unsafe spending categories–this prevents children from spending at a retailer that has classified itself as selling goods or services for adults (such as alcohol).

If this happens, you will receive an alert informing you that the transaction has not been allowed.
