About Sprout.ai
Sprout.ai is a London-based insurance technology company using AI to transform how insurers, MGAs and TPAs process and make decisions on claims.
Founded in 2018, Sprout.ai was built around a simple idea: insurance claims contain huge amounts of complex, unstructured information, but claims teams still spend significant amounts of time reading documents, checking policy wording, validating evidence and working out what should happen next. Sprout.ai brings AI into those decision points, helping teams move from manually processing information to making faster, more informed decisions.
The company has now processed more than 10 million claims across health, life and property insurance, with its technology supporting customers across four continents. Its impact includes up to 23% faster claims turnaround times and a 19% increase in customer satisfaction.
One of Sprout.ai’s features is Intelligent Coverage Checking, which tackles one of the most complex parts of claims handling: understanding whether a claim is actually covered by a specific policy. Rather than simply extracting information from policy documents, Sprout.ai analyses policy wording, endorsements, claim information and supporting evidence together. It identifies the relevant terms, tests the evidence against them and provides the reasoning and source references behind its recommendation.
This is helping insurers address a longstanding trade-off between thoroughness and efficiency. Sprout.ai has seen more than 30% more potential non-coverage cases flagged and around a 45% reduction in time spent on policy checking in complex claims. Its technology can also identify with 99% accuracy whether the available claim information is sufficient to proceed or whether further information or documentation is needed.
The platform is designed to identify what is missing rather than force a decision based on incomplete evidence. This gives claims teams a clearer starting point for review and helps ensure that important coverage decisions are supported by the available evidence.
Sprout.ai has also focused on making AI easier for insurers to adopt. Rather than requiring businesses to replace their core claims platforms, its technology integrates with existing infrastructure. Its Guidewire ClaimCenter integration, for example, enables claim data and document bundles to be assessed by Sprout.ai, with recommendations and findings returned to the existing claims workflow.
This approach addresses one of the biggest challenges facing enterprise AI adoption: moving from promising demonstrations to technology that can operate reliably within established systems and processes.
As the insurance industry moves beyond experimentation with AI and towards measurable production use cases, Sprout.ai is focused on a practical question: how can AI improve the decisions that sit at the heart of insurance?
Its answer is purpose-built AI that understands insurance claims, works alongside existing technology and helps teams make decisions that are faster, fairer and more accurate.
