What is Cerve?

Cerve is a London-based startup, setting out to disrupt the supply chain industry. Founded in 2019, Cerve provides a better way for businesses to automate operations and improve their supply chain.

Before it was founded, founder Dan Mazig saw just how fragmented current data sharing is for supply chain teams. Off the back of this, he created an API designed to improve how data is managed and exchanged in the F&B (food and beverage) industry.

Their API integration allows for easy, accurate and secure communication between suppliers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers – this not only improves operations and profit margins, but also reduces food waste.

With over 2,000 companies already using their tech, the company is now looking to expand to North America off the back of its latest seed funding round, led by Seedcamp.

What Makes Cerve Unique?

Cerve is not just another API, it’s a better way for the food and beverage industry to operate and reduce risk of waste.

Currently, the sector relies on EDI (electronic data interchange) to run, which can mean that data is heavily fragmented, leading to poor decision making.

Cerve’s API provides a better solution. With a single platform that connects manufacturers, suppliers and businesses, companies can more easily see all relevant data in one place. With instant updates and a full overview of the supply chain, Curve is helping businesses cut costs, reduce waste and operate more efficiently.

Is There A Market For Digitising The Food Supply Chain?

The food and beverage industry is one of the biggest markets in the world. In fact, it’s made up of over 100 million companies with a market worth of over $17 trillion.

In essence, the F&B industry is a huge pillar in global trade and a massive economy driver for countries with a lot of agriculture.

But despite being so big, only 5% of the industry is properly integrated. Key data points like where products are, what they cost and their nutritional value is all handled manually. That means the information exists across a variety of platforms in a variety of versions.

Because of this, a huge chunk of food produced globally goes to waste, costing businesses billions.

This inefficiency is where Cerve comes in. By replacing these old and outdated methods with a modern, API-based software, Cerve allows companies to exchange data more easily. This helps them improve order accuracy, reduce waste and become more profitable.

By providing an easy-to-integrate platform, alongside a team who understands the industry, Cerve is setting out to modernise how F&B businesses communicate with their suppliers.

And with a recent £3.5 million seed funding round completed, it’s certainly going to be one to watch.

What Key Products Does Cerve Have?
