Startups And Apps Helping Students And Graduates Pick A Career

Students across the country are gathering their GCSE results today, there seems to be a rise in higher grades. In England, the proportion of entries achieving grade 7 or above has gone from 22.4% in 2023 to 22.6% this year. And overall, grades are looking similar to those from last year and at last, similar to before the pandemic.

Main subjects like Maths and English’s marks have gone down, especially in the higher grades. For 16-year-olds, the pass rates are not too far off from those of last year’s, but for students aged 17 and older, there’s a drop. So in English, the proportion of students aged 17 or older achieving a grade 4 or above went from 25.9% last year to 20.9% this year. This is said to be because of the increase in resits among this age group.

Careers And Work After School: What Happens?

When it comes to what happens after school, its important to be sure that students know about their career choices. Sarah Chapman, 3M senior technical manager and Women in STEM ambassador, said, “As students receive their GCSE results today and look ahead to future opportunities, we need to uplift young people who are looking to get into the STEM industry, while also opening the door to those who may not have considered the industry as a viable career option for them.

“The future of the science and technology industries is bright, as nearly 7 out of 10 agree that jobs in STEM are the future of work. What’s more, STEM subjects can lead to a huge variety of jobs in music, sports and tech, beyond the traditional roles associated with the sector. All students should feel empowered to choose science, technology, engineering, and math subjects when the time comes to consider further qualifications and careers.”

More than 24 million students have engaged a tutor through Superprof across 25 languages on topics ranging from sports, health and wellness, arts and crafts, cooking, music and even career development and life skills.

The Superprof concept is based on two pillars: a trusted community of handpicked tutors that is evaluated by reviews, and a search engine that allows students to find a tutor who fits their needs perfectly.
