Tech & Startups To Help With Stomach Aches

Stomach aches can be disruptive and painful, affecting millions of people around the world every day. In fact, according to the recent Holland and Barratt health report, in the UK 58% of people in the UK experience gut health problems, with 45% saying their issues are chronic.

When it comes to the most common symptoms, bloating and gas take the top spot, with over half of people (51%) experiencing them.

What Causes Stomach Issues?

There are a number of factors that can contribute to poor gastric health, these include pre-existing conditions, genetics and lifestyle.

Luckily, plenty of research exists around how to improve gut health, with diet playing a key role. Following a balanced diet with plenty of variety has been thought to contribute to a diverse microbiome, which promotes healthy digestion and nutrient absorption.

However, given diet is so important in managing stomach health, and healthy food usually comes at a higher price, it’s no surprise that 39% of Brits said that the cost of living crisis has had an adverse effect on their digestive health. This could also be attributed to higher levels of stress, which can be equally damaging to gut health.

How Is Tech Helping People Manage Stomach Aches?

Given how regularly Brits experience stomach aches, it’s no surprise that tech and startup companies have come to the rescue.

These companies are using tools like wearables, tracking and AI to help people manage and understand their stomach health.
