Veo is the largest online shopping destination for a sustainable lifestyle. With a mission to make sustainable living attainable and accessible, we guarantee no greenwashing, no fast fashion, and no products that are produced irresponsibly.
Veo’s two-sided marketplace (B2B2C) provides a home for independent, sustainable brands, and a destination for conscious consumers to discover curated lifestyle collections across Fashion & Accessories, Beauty & Cosmetics, Health & Wellness, Food & Drink, and Home. Veo is now home to over 300 brands and growing, with the aim to reach 1,000 over the next 12 months.
Veo was founded in 2019 by Joe Darwen. After working with some of the world’s leading online marketplaces Joe saw a clear opportunity to build a vital alternative to other platforms; one that would focus on the quality of product, but also hold environmental and social impact at its core. After years of development and testing, Veo launched its v3.0 platform in 2022 and is seeing up to 250% monthly growth.
The company ethos is reflected in its 3 pillars: Kind, Healthy, and Sustainable. Veo is a Certified B Corporation, scoring in the top 5% of just 5,000 B Corps worldwide, and was also included in the Honourees List for 2021 as one of the ‘Best for the World’. Every brand listed on the platform is subject to thorough assessment and vetting – removing the resource-intensive research that is regularly cited by consumers as a barrier to purchasing sustainably. This aligns with a number of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG #12 “responsible consumption and production”.
To help solve these problems the business realised early on that it required a technical solution. Designed to automate the store management and admin processes for brands, whilst improving the navigation and platform experience for customers; its bespoke proprietary API and PIM technology also earned Veo the Innovate UK Grant in 2020.
Since its creation, the startup has raised £700k in funding, and at the time of writing is underway with raising a further £1.4 million for continued development and expansion of the platform. The aim is to bring together as many independent, sustainable consumer and lifestyle brands as possible; uniting them with shoppers who want to make better purchasing choices, for people and the planet.
Veo’s efforts help support a great cause, improving how we use, source, and manufacture raw materials, reducing carbon emissions, combating climate change, and supporting ethical supply chains for workers around the world.
They’ve recently expanded the team, joined forces with some fantastic like-minded entrepreneurs, and do not show signs of slowing down.
