About Onto

Onto is an electric car subscription service that was founded in 2017 by Rob Jolly and Dannan O’Meachair. The company’s goal is to accelerate EV adoption and offer a sustainable, flexible and affordable alternative to traditional car ownership. Onto wants to help motorists join the EV revolution. So far by driving electric cars instead of traditional internal combustion engine vehicles, Onto subscribers have saved 3,279,201 Kg of CO2 from being produced at the tailpipe. That is equivalent to growing 55,746 trees for 10 yrs!

Over the last four years, Onto’s innovative car subscription service has proved a hit with consumers – the business has doubled in size every six months and there are now over 3,000 subscribers. To support the company’s goals and propel its growth in the UK, Onto raised $175million in a combined equity and debt Series B funding round in July 2021.

Since its inception, Onto has expanded rapidly, partnering with new charging and electric car providers as more EVs become available to suit all budgets. Subscriptions are on a monthly commitment and Onto currently offers 16 models ranging from the 2021 Volkswagen e-up! at £339 per month all the way up to the 2021 Audi e-Tron 55 Quattro Black Edition at £1299 per month.

The subscription model includes 1,000 miles per month, insurance, service and repair, and free access to more than 11,000 public EV charge points via its network of charging partners. Customers have no long-term commitment and great flexibility; they can easily change their car to suit their changing lifestyle needs.

In addition to its consumer offering Onto runs Onto for Business which offers companies and their employees a flexible, no-commitment car subscription solution. With zero-emission cars exempt from Benefit-In-Kind tax, both the employer and employee can capitalise on tax savings.
