About Mark Balaam
Mark is an experienced global business leader, entrepreneur, visionary and innovator with a proven track record of success within competitive B2B, B2C, B2B2C markets including policing, security, counter terrorism, cyber security, risk management, personal protection, health, telecommunications, construction, property, transport and wealth. With his 30 years of experience working in national security, policing and intelligence agencies, Mark established imabi, a sophisticated personal safety and lifestyle intelligence platform.
Mark has two young teenage daughters and wanted to do something more than what was available to increase their safety and help them navigate their teenage and adult lives. Knowing that violence against women and girls, harmful online content, peer pressure and harassment, and general 24/7 bombardment of fake news and information all added up to potential risk, he founded imabi to drive positive behavioural and societal change. Mark named the business after his two daughters, Imogen and Abigail.

Its software suite is designed to improve safety by bringing together functions to report incidents, guides on topics such as sexual assault and how to speak up when you witness a crime, access to support and diagnostics for trends within app usage.
Set up by CEO Mark Balaam with the safety of his young daughters in mind (the company name being a combination of their names Imogen and Abigail), imabi is looking to create a safer environment across a range of sectors. imabi’s software platform supports safety apps which can be applied to a range of sectors by tailoring imabi’s range of services to the needs of specific sectoral requirements.
Working with the British Transport Police, imabi is powering the UK’s first police reporting app, covering the national rail network.
