About Steph and Challenge Accepted
The Challenge Accepted app launched during the first lockdown in 2020 to help people stay motivated with their personal challenges including fitness goals, reading lists, fundraising and more.
During the pandemic in-person fundraising events were cancelled or postponed so many of these events went virtual, often encouraging people to work on an at-home fitness challenge whilst raising money for a good cause.
The Challenge Accepted app provided a place for charities to host their digital trackers for fundraisers to keep track of their progress. Within the challenges are messages of encouragement, reminders of how their fundraising efforts help, and links to Facebook groups to engage with other fundraisers.
Over the past two years, Challenge Accepted have hosted fundraising challenges from UK and Australian charities including the British Heart Foundation, Teenage Cancer Trust, UNICEF Australia and more. Since its launch, over 15k people have participated in a fundraising challenge on the app.
In addition to fundraising events, there is a range of other challenges for people to take part in throughout the year for whatever their goal including reading lists, watch lists and daily well-being tasks. Users can also create their own challenges from scratch. With self-care at its core, people are encouraged to go at their own pace and level for them.
As a bootstrapped startup, co-founders Paul and Steph needed to optimise running costs and grow efficiently with an impactful organic marketing strategy. They have since grown to over 28k registered users.
In 2023, they are looking to expand the breadth of virtual fundraising events to become the destination for any fundraiser to keep track and stay motivated with their challenge.
