Company: Abjel Communications
Founder(s): Adisa Amanor-Wilks
Abjel Communications are innovators and expert storytellers, working with clients to boost their communications and their reach.
The agency’s work is based on insights, research and a genuine understanding of the dynamics that make businesses successful, and their effective communications approach is tailored to individual wants and needs. Abjel Communications help clients to tell stories, get coverage, sharpen up their narrative and promote sustainable development.
Founder and Director Adisa Amanor-Wilks launched Abjel as a social enterprise, so a share of the company’s profits go towards supporting a children’s bereavement charity. Over the years, the company have built up a strong global presence, so they’re also able to help clients make connections overseas – helping to create partnerships and make footprints in different countries.
Following a successful career as a journalist and then a freelance comms and PR consultant, Adisa launched Abjel in 2016 after identifying a gap in the market for skilled communications agencies that could help the rising number of entrepreneurs in Africa to market themselves.
“Communications as a craft was not being used effectively in Africa in the same way it was in other parts of the world. I established Abjel to provide expertise for up-and-coming businesses in Africa, while also bridging the gap between international companies with business in Africa, allowing them to connect and communicate effectively.” Adisa claims.
“In the years since, business has expanded, and our services have been widely sought after across the globe – we have clients from all over calling on our expertise and connections.”
