Primepoint builds AI that reads and understands construction drawings, not just the text around them, turning thousands of scattered PDF pages into one connected, traceable source of truth for how a project gets built. In an industry where almost right is not good enough, a missed conflict on a drawing can mean a costly change order or a safety incident in the field, so every answer Primepoint gives is grounded in the original document.
That is also what sets Primepoint apart from a wave of AI tools built on general chat models. Primepoint understands drawing linework, scale, and how a door tag connects to a schedule, a specification, and a submittal, details that go beyond what a tool built to summarise an uploaded document can see. Primepoint instead built a proprietary construction knowledge graph and deep learning models trained specifically on drawings, so every answer traces back to the original document.
Primepoint started in 2024 in San Mateo, California, founded by Lubomir Bourdev and Hamid Palo. Bourdev spent nearly two decades in AI research, as a founding member of Facebook AI Research and co-founder of WaveOne, a video compression company acquired by Apple in 2023. Palo was the fifth employee at Trello, helped scale it through its acquisition by Atlassian, and was product lead at Uber, taking grocery delivery from zero to one.
The biggest challenge was earning trust in an industry that has been slow to adopt AI, where every project depends on dozens of stakeholders collaborating across contracts, trades, and schedules. In that setting, a hallucinated answer to a drawing question can be worse than no answer at all. Design error rework alone costs the US construction industry an estimated 177 billion dollars a year, and teams needed to see proof, not promises, before handing over real project data. To close that gap, Primepoint brought on Kamran Azarbal, a construction veteran who spent a decade at Webcor rising from project engineer to project director, to make sure the product was built around how teams on site actually work.
That proof is now paying off. Primepoint is working with major US general contractors, including Sundt Construction, Webcor, Milender White, W.E. ONeil, Fortis Construction, and Bulley and Andrews, cutting drawing navigation time and catching conflicts before they reach the field. In April 2026 the company closed a 10 million dollar seed round led by Navitas Capital and Penny Jar Capital, with participation from NextView Ventures, GS Futures, Aglae Ventures, and AI pioneer Yann LeCun.
At a moment when US construction faces a real shortage of skilled labor as demand accelerates, Primepoint gives existing teams more capacity instead of replacing them, helping American builders move faster on the projects shaping the next decade of US infrastructure.
