About Sage Haven
Sage Haven was founded in August 2023 by sisters, moms, and serial technology entrepreneurs Kate Doerksen and Anne Pizzuti after a deeply personal experience showed them how harmful online interactions can be for children. They saw firsthand how cyberbullying and harmful content could affect a young person’s mental health and recognised a larger gap: children were entering group chats and digital communication years before most parents felt they were ready, with few tools designed specifically for their age group.
Sage Haven is building a safer first step into technology for children ages 8 to 12. The company created a messaging and voice calling platform where AI helps identify and stop harmful messages before they are sent, encourages kinder communication, and gives parents meaningful visibility through approved contacts, alerts, and conversation recaps. Unlike traditional parental controls that focus primarily on restricting access, Sage Haven is designed to help children learn healthy digital communication skills while gradually giving them more independence.
Sage Haven has raised over $3 million in funding from a group of leading technology investors. The company is contributing to the US technology ecosystem by demonstrating how AI can be applied proactively to protect children and improve digital behaviour rather than simply increase engagement. Sage Haven is creating a new category of technology for families: tools that help children develop a healthier relationship with technology from the moment they first go online.
The goal is bigger than safer messaging. Kate and Anne want to help create a generation of children who can build meaningful connections online without having to sacrifice their safety or wellbeing.
