About Nimrita Dadlani
Female-founded in July 2024 by Nimrita Dadlani who came up with the idea for Pivot after her own experiences of separation and divorce. Soon after, Ramesh Touraney, supported Nimrita’s vision and became a co-founder of the business.
Purpose-led and impact driven, Nimrita realised that often divorce solicitors are used like therapists or divorce coaches, yet unlike coaches, a solicitor’s hourly rate is often double the price. Using a divorce coach can save around 50% in fees, plus the support they offer goes far beyond what a solicitor provides. That’s where Pivot comes in, with its innovative digital tools and team of divorce coaches.
There has been two core challenges since launch: Navigating the cost of living crisis and gaining further investment to dial up its offering.
Nimrita was quick to pivot and is currently integrating a range of advanced AI tools to support its core product offering. Instead of just providing a platform to book hourly sessions with human coaches, the brand has created a series of affordable, tiered packages to meet consumer demand and need. This tech has enabled Pivot to offer value-for-money to consumers, blending smart DIY AI tools that enables consumers to gain vital information 24/7 AND one-to-one human support to ensure depth of customer journey. (Think smarter, not harder!)
Soon to be launched, new tools include Coach Matching Tool (free tool), Mediation Coach (support on mediation), Find Your Calm (emotional support), Pivot Expert (legal coaching), Financial Planner and Form E Assistant.
The brand has evolved in a short space. It’s 24/7 AI technology will roll-out imminently, providing automated support and guidance to complement its expert human services, where it matters most.
The business has overcome a tough funding environment and this year Pivot received investment to support its evolving product offering. The business also plans to secure a second round of funding this year in order to scale its offering.
Since launch, Nimrita has been interviewed on BBC (radio). In fact, over just a few months Pivot has been in the headlines on other channels such as The independent (3 times!), Press Association, Stylist and national TV, with a total of 600 million reach in media coverage.
Pivot has become a reliable ‘go-to’ resource for press commentary. Through expert-led commentary Pivot is developing its brand reputation, voice and brand awareness. The press has also caught the eye of investors.
Oher challenges Pivot has faced: the founders are underrepresented. One founder is female (over 40) and a male (over 50), both Asian entrepreneurs and first-time founders. Entering into a new business the founders have also been acutely aware of the age and gender bias.
However, focusing on the business’ vision has enabled Nimrita to have a voice, reducing shame and stigma about emotional and mental health challenges related to divorce. She hopes Pivot will contribute to a shift in attitude towards divorce culturally in the UK, to not only normalise the experience of divorce but also offer a space which reduces isolation and encourages support and empowerment.
