Wolverhampton HealthTech Leader Wins Digital Healthcare Award At Medilink Midlands 2026

A Wolverhampton-based healthcare leader has been recognised for innovation in improving access to healthcare after winning a major regional award.

Fungai Ndemera, Managing Director of The Flame Lily Healthcare and founder of CheckUp Health, was awarded the Advances in Digital Healthcare category at the Medilink Midlands Business Awards 2026.

The award recognises organisations delivering impactful innovation that improves patient outcomes and supports healthcare systems.

The recognition reflects the work being delivered across both organisations, combining frontline care experience with digital innovation.

Through The Flame Lily Healthcare, Ndemera has built a strong foundation in delivering community-based care services. Alongside this, CheckUp Health is developing an AI-powered digital GP platform designed to improve access to primary care, particularly for underserved communities.

Speaking after receiving the award, Ndemera said: “This recognition reflects the work we are doing to ensure that no one is left behind when it comes to accessing healthcare.
It’s about combining real-world care delivery with innovation to improve outcomes at scale.”

The Medilink Midlands Business Awards celebrate excellence across the life sciences and digital health sectors, bringing together industry leaders, NHS partners and innovators.

Following this win, CheckUp Health has been shortlisted for the national Medilink UK Awards, taking place later this year.

Ndemera added: “We are proud to represent Wolverhampton and the West Midlands on a national stage. This is just the beginning of what we are building.”
