Hospitable is the operating system for short-term rental professionals, powering businesses from one property to 1,000 and beyond. Founded in 2016 by Pierre-Camille Hamana to help him rent out a spare bedroom, the platform now supports more than 90,000 active users across 140 countries and processed $5.2 billion in reservation income for its customers in 2025.
The biggest challenge has been growing without the funding model that the rest of the sector relies on. Most short-term rental software is backed by venture capital or private equity, whereas Hospitable has never raised a traditional outside round. It opened its cap table to its users, and more than 180 customers and employees across 32 countries have invested a combined $2.2 million.
That independence shaped how the company prices software. In April 2026, Hospitable introduced the first permanent $0 plan in short-term rental software, removing the fixed monthly subscription that has long been the condition of entry to professional tools. Hosts start on professional infrastructure immediately and pay only for services that help them earn more, such as dynamic pricing, direct booking sites and guest payments.
The same community of investors and customers shapes what gets built. Customers hold equity in the business and steer product direction through public town halls, open feedback and collaboration with working property managers. Hospitable shares what it knows for free as well, running regular public Town Halls, practical workshops on subjects like connecting AI agents to a PMS, and a free course on direct bookings, in a sector where most operators are small businesses with no training budget.
Hospitable has also taken on work that software in this category has historically handed back to the customer. It became the first property management system (PMS) to automate lodging tax compliance across all 50 US states, acting as merchant of record for registration, calculation, filing and remittance, and now remits over $1 million in lodging taxes for operators every month.
With AI, the platform automated more than 108 million guest messages and completed 44 million automated actions in 2025, and became the first short-term rental PMS to launch an official Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, giving AI agents such as ChatGPT and Claude secure access to live operational data. That work won Hospitable Best Use of AI at the 2026 Skift IDEA Awards.
Customers rate it accordingly: a 4.9-star G2 rating, one of the highest support scores in the industry. Hospitable is an Airbnb Preferred Plus partner and a Booking.com Premier Plus partner.
Nearly a decade in, the next phase is taking on more of that responsibility, extending payments and lodging tax coverage into new markets so property managers can move into them without becoming compliance experts first.
