About SmartPM
SmartPM was founded in 2016 in Atlanta by Michael Pink, a veteran delay analyst who recognised a critical industry flaw: construction projects run on complex schedules that almost nobody fully understands or trusts. Traditional critical path method tools like Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project generate massive data sets, yet project teams lack the time to analyse risk. Consequently, 88% of baseline schedules fail basic quality benchmarks, and 44% of schedule updates quietly rewrite historic actual dates, leading to massive delays, budget overruns and litigation across the sector.
SmartPM transformed this dynamic by building the first Automated Project Controls and schedule analytics SaaS platform purpose-built for construction. The software automatically ingests native schedule files, runs deterministic math analytics across more than thirty-five quality and risk metrics, and converts raw data into objective, actionable project intelligence.
Overcoming adoption hurdles in a historically slow-moving industry required a fundamental rethink of traditional SaaS business models. Instead of charging per seat, which forces companies to restrict access to a small group of schedulers, SmartPM established a per-project subscription model with unlimited users. This approach allowed general contractors, project managers, field superintendents and project owners to collaborate around a single source of schedule truth without added cost barriers.
The platform has achieved unprecedented scale and impact across the built environment. To date, SmartPM has analysed more than 120,000 schedule files representing over US$350 billion in construction value. The software is trusted by more than 50% of the ENR Top 50 general contractors and over 100 of the ENR Top 400, including industry leaders like Manhattan Construction, Barton Malow, Zachry and Ryan Companies. On average, teams using the platform report a 90 percent reduction in schedule analysis time and a 60 percent reduction in schedule delays.
Beyond commercial success, SmartPM achieved FedRAMP High Authorization, making it one of the few construction SaaS platforms cleared to secure federal infrastructure programs. The company also published the landmark State of Construction Scheduling Report, analysing thousands of active projects to establish the first data-backed benchmark for schedule health in the industry. By replacing manual reporting with automated, mathematical rigor, SmartPM is establishing a new standard of transparency and predictability for global construction.
